The CIT department is comprised of two information system industries:
1. Computer Information Technologies
2. Office Information Systems

Computer Information Technologies Mission Statement


This department will provide the student with technical skills in relation to computer software, hardware, and scientific analysis and design methodologies as an academic foundation intended to prepare for higher-level learning institutions (4-year degree programs). Through work-study programs, students will also have the opportunity to gain system administrative and maintenance experience intended to increase their marketability in the job marketplace. Our ultimate goal is to produce a high-quality product in our graduates that will establish a market- and industry-wide reputation for excellence in systems education.

Goals and Objectives

• Prepare students and graduates for the continuation of their academic careers by laying a technical foundation suitable for entrance into a 4-year degree program.
• Enable students and graduates for the launch of their technical careers by laying a technical foundation suitable for certification testing.
• Provide students and graduates with industry-related skill sets that are outside the scope of typical academic degree programs.
• Establish a standard of both classroom theory and practical application within the CIT department.
• Enhance students critical thinking skills through the application of scientific methodology designed to develop these skills.

Office Information Systems


The Office Information Systems Department confers Associates of Arts Degrees in two major career tracts: Business Office Profession and Allied Health Profession. High standards of professionalism, ethics, and responsibility towards employers and coworkers are stressed.
The curriculum in the Business Office track leads to an Associates of Arts Degree with majors in Administrative Assistant and Legal Administrative Assistant. The programs encompass a broad array of administrative and software application courses. Administrative Assistants are responsible for a variety of administrative and clerical duties necessary to run an organization efficiently. Legal Administrative Assistants perform highly specialized work requiring knowledge of legal terminology and procedures.
The Allied Health curriculum provides courses that lead to an Associates of Arts Degree in Medical Office Assisting, Medical Administrative Assistant, and Medical Coding. The Medical Office Assistant is an integral member of the health care delivery team, and is of vital importance to the success of a medical practice. The Medical Coding tract concentrates on coding and administrative responsibilities of a medical insurance specialist. The Allied Health curriculum also offers a certificate in Medical Office Assisting and Medical Coding.
Upon graduation, students will demonstrate outstanding written, oral, and organizational skills. Additionally, students will be rooted in a foundation that will allow them to enter the work force as skilled Business Office or Allied Health Professionals.
