Vision Statement

The Office of Retention at Lewis College of Business (LCB) is committed to the success of students enrolled at Lewis College of Business. It is our vision
  • To offer programs and services that promote student learning, development persistence, connection, and satisfaction.
  • To collaborate with members of the campus community to enhance student learning, development, persistence, connection, and satisfaction; and;
  • To foster a campus environment that is responsive to the needs of our students.

The Office of Retention aims to enhance student success and retention through student-centered programs, services, and assessment.

Retention Goals and Objectives

The Office of Retention is charged with developing and maintaining a comprehensive retention program which integrates current and proposed retention efforts across the college. This includes improving communication among the various offices and departments involved in retention activities so that information is shared, duplication of effort is decreased, and effectiveness is increased. Toward this end, the Office of Retention

  • describes and evaluates retention efforts;
  • uses student evaluations to determine the effectiveness of various retention efforts;
  • makes recommendations on strategies to improve retention efforts to the appropriate offices and departments;
  • uses findings from data collection efforts to enhance the quality of services provided at the College;
  • monitors student attendance and performance in at the class level to identify potentially at-risk students;
  • administers the peer mentoring program and tutorial services;

Guiding Principles

  • Student Oriented: The Office of Retention was created to ensure that students successfully negotiate their academic tenure at Lewis College of Business. In so doing, all efforts are by their very nature student oriented.
  • Professional: All efforts and people are handled with the highest level of professionalism.
  • Efficient: Ensuring that students complete a high quality degree program is a large task that the Retention Office takes seriously.  Therefore it is imperative that all efforts be handled in an efficient and timely manner.

The Peer Mentor and Student Leadership Program is a unique peer support program housed within the Office of Retention. Through phone calls, emails, and face-to-face contact, the Peer Mentors provide encouragement, share information, and offer a friendly ear to facilitate students’ matriculation through college. Tutorial Services

The Office of Retention offers free tutoring services to LCB students. The aim of the program is to provide academic assistance to people experiencing challenges in their classes. Download file for details
